Well, he didn't exactly run it into the ground... he hired the hottest name in management after Carl Peterson left and delegated everything to Pioli (or ignored, if you prefer), who then ran it into the ground.
I don't think SoC forced his hand at all when it came to making changes... the changes were made for financial reasons as much as anything else... but, maybe it was a good reminder that this isn't some apathetic fan base like San Diego or Jacksonville, and that losing year after year isn't acceptable (keep in mind, SoC started when they were only like 1-3 last season), and that fans will flock back to Arrowhead if he'd just put some effort into making a winner (not that he was unaware of that). So, he did, and they did.
Do what it takes not to
completely shit on your customers (well, most years), and they'll keep buying your product year after year. Would you spend more money or give more of an effort if your product had that level of blind loyalty?
