I have never heard that story, so I can't comment on its veracity. I know the Yankees were going to take him. I did, however, once come across an Angel scout's comments about Trout...when he was 17:
“Best athlete. Best player in the world—period. Best player on the planet.”
FWIW, some Cardinals fans still bitch about passing on Rick Porcello when he dropped due to signability issues. That's the draft we took Kozma's worthless ass in.
