Thanks for the input.

I agree with a great deal of what you're saying here - Alex Smith is a fine quarterback, probably average to slightly above.

But you have to realize your audience here - we're broken down by the backup/veteran QB cycle...especially those coming from SF.

If we have to get a veteran, I think Smith's probably a very credible option and a guy we can win a lot of games with over the next 3-5 years, but this franchise needs to spin the wheel and at least try to come up with its own superstar.
