He was almost certainly going to be let back on the team next year, all he had to do was stay out of trouble.
C'mon, kid - gotta be smarter than that.
He's probably not an NFL cornerback (could maybe perform in a nickle role), but he'd absolutely get drafted late as a return man.
3 years in the league gets a pension, right? Plus the league minimum is a few hundred thousand. Even if he just returns kicks for 3 or 4 seasons, he's just cost himself millions in salary and his NFL pension.
