When you have kids, get back to me on how you decided to handle biting, and running out into the street, and doing all sorts of dangerous things......I am all ears and hopefully going to have more kids so I am open to advice from veterans....but no offense If I don't pay much heed to a rookie 8-)

Exactly. Even if psychological research had generated some data that said, "X is the best way to discipline children," I wouldn't propose to know anything about implementing it as a parent, only that I read about it in a bunch of journals. And as it is, even if I had kids and used a discipline technique that was the most perfect thing ever, all parents are different, as are all children. Dr. Buttschnitzel's book on parenting is probably well-recommended, but it's always going to have legitimate criticisms from people who either claim it to be ineffective through experience or who claim to have found a strikingly different technique that works better.
