To attempt to maintain the integrity of this thread, I voted rods. Supposedly, they are 4th dimensional beings that can pass through the 3rd dimension in which we live, and the only part of them we can see is the "rod." Because we know nothing about the 4th dimension besides that it exists, there could be an entire realm of possibility for inhabitants.
