Teams leak news to stir up interest with trades all the time. All this news about the Chiefs being interested in Geno Smith is PR for him, which raises the value of the #1 pick.
Girls want you more if you are already taken versus being single. Human nature to want what you can't have or what someone else wants/has.
I don't know what is going to happen with our pick but the value of the 1.1 pick appears to be increasing.

Really it raises the value of the #1 pick because right now its lowering the value and quickly with all the other qb needy teams signing qbs.
