Over- pressure from a blast can strip clothes clean off your body without any shrapnel effects doing damage. The unseen damage to your CNS as well as TBI are what ****s you up in a case like that.
The guy with the traumatic amputation of the lower legs says to me this device detonated at ground level and the charge was tamped like a sandwich; most injuries I've seen or read about are to the lower extremities. If it were detonated about two feet higher off the ground...bad business.
