Corey Taylor from Slipknot may be my greatest story. It was just before their 3rd CD release and at this point no one had really seen any of the band members without their masks. I went to see them headline for Fear Factory and Chimaira.

There was a line wrapped around the building the show was in, and along side the road the line wrapped around were the tour buses. In the middle of the line, on the curb sat a man smoking a cigarette. His hair was bright purple, red, pink, orange, green, and blue. It looked ridiculous. It wasn't until I got closer look that I realized who this person was. I was able to identify him by a tattoo on his neck. It was the barcode that every band member had.

I stepped up to him once the line allowed me to. I nudged him and asked, " Aren't you Corey?" He stood up, and said, "Whoa, whoa, whoa! Pump the brakes! I'm Corey, what's your name?"

I stayed and talked with him for a bit; all I can say is the dude was one of the chilliest, most humble person I've ever met. He refused to shake my hand, but wanted a hug. He thanked me for coming to see their band and being a supporter.

Once he got on stage the wacky hair made sense. He slicked it back with water and in the lights of the show, it looked wicked as hell. That may have been the most impressive show I've ever witnessed. I was hugged by Corey Taylor, and I was relentlessly called "mother ****er" by the lead singer of Slipknot.
