I don't believe it. If the Royals did offer 4/30, that is a low offer. Not a lowball offer, but on the low side of reasonable. 4/35 or 4/40 would be a good fair deal.
6/80 is insane after just 1 good year and 2 arb years left to go. Thats what he might expect in free agency 3 years from now, if he's an all-star (but not an incredible player) for the next 2 years. I refuse to believe they asked for that (or if they did, its their starting point "yeah, right" highball offer in the negotiating room)

Earlier today, I was thinking that we should offer a four deal starting at $5 million and increasing by around 2.5 each year. 5, 7.5, 10, 15 would be four years and 37.5 with a cherry on the final year. Six for eighty is insane. That would add two years at over 21 per to the end of a fair deal.
