Given our line, running backs, TEs, and QB, we should be fine. After thoroughly enjoying a 12-2 season and playing in the SEC Championship game, I'm done playing the "snake-bit" card. We'll win some, we'll lose some, but we're never going to be too far behind in talent. That threshold has been passed.

If Missouri can consistently recruit like they have the first few months of this cycle, you're right, but the names aren't on the LOIs yet, nor have we developed a pattern of this level of recruiting. You're putting the cart before the horse.
Having a player who could go top five, perhaps #1 overall, setting school records while playing in primetime games is a massive recruiting chip based solely upon the added exposure it grants you. DGB getting shitcanned opens up opportunities and catches, sure, but it also makes things more difficult for Mauk, the offense as a whole, and it depletes the talent level of the team.
Kicking him off the team was the right and ethical thing to do, but you're just being a damned fool if you don't realize the extent of the Mizzou-ness of this.
Consider it this way: Pinkel has brought in three 5* recruits in his tenure. Two of the three were massive ****ing shithead distractions and horrible, horrible teammates, yet you need those guys to compete.
The Faustian bargain that is major college football recruiting is baldly horseshit.
