I doubt those Mizzou fans back then were rooting for OU to wax Mizzou each year (at least I wouldn't think they were but you never know). Because come basketball season, they turned into big OU haters.


You are probably too young to remember it but in the 1980s it was my impression that OU was Mizzous biggest basketball rival. Even bigger than Kansas. Sounds unbelievable but that really was the situation back then.
I am not too young, and can say with certainty that this was not the case. Mizzou fans loved giving Billy Tubbs the finger, and the Antlers loved jeering him, but in no way was OU a bigger rival than KU.
