The Chargers did not piss away Drew Brees. He was nowhere near as good in San Diego as he is in NOLA and Rivers was waiting in the wings to replace him. His shoulder injury (caused as a result of Marty's stubbornness) was so severe that it was questionable whether he'd ever play again. There was a reason that only two other teams besides the Chargers were even interested when Brees hit the open market in '06.
So what you are saying is that if brees had stayed, he might not be Drew Brees we know today?
