Horrible example but JaMarcus Russell wasn't the top QB in his class until he started unleashing 100 yard bombs from his knees...
still a long ways to go before Geno doesn't emerge as the clear cut #1
and besides, the NFL doesn't like when teams announce who they take #1 before the draft anyways
see last year's obvious #1 pick Andrew Luck and how he wasn't announced until Goodell called it on draft day
