It devaules the consoles that are currently out, they want to keep making you buy your $400 - $500 new console plus have you shell out an additional $200 for the old stuff if you want to play those games still or if you've already traded in your old system but eventually you want to get it again. It's all about the $$$$$$$$. Nintendo does it with their systems because they NEED to sell Wii U's. If they werent in such dire straits they'd do the same thing.
