I would compare the situation of the Celtics\Lakers to KU basketball. You don't see many KU fans accepting losing.

KU fans wouldn't call for the AD's or Self's head because he had a bad season or two, nor because they fell short in last year's championship game.
Lakers fans are pissed about Jim Buss.
Boston won a championship because Ainge built a stacked team for a short-term run. They are one of only 8 teams to win one in the last 28 years. And we all knew age would eventually catch up to them. Maybe it was a mistake for him to milk the team off instead of blowing it up and rebuilding. But he's at least earned the right to try to rebuild.
