The problem in the NFL isn't race, its a lack of quality coaching. The disparity in football lies between the teams that can pay big bucks for a coach and those who can't. The real problem is in college football where some schools can pay coaches competitive wages with the NFL and those who can't.

The comparison I always make is... Imagine a black student ten times more qualified than you didn't get into Harvard. He gets denied by jobs because of race.
20 years later, your resume is 20 times better. And it's not because you're smarter or more qualified. That's the heart of the Rooney rule. Again I think it's out served its purpose and I hate that the NFL would mandate hirings. But the Rooney rule was a great one early on.
