Um, I didn't say that at all lol.

What I'm asking is, if you had the choice between two versions of Alex Smith.

1. being a Jim Kelly type championship run where we're winning ~10 games a season, we're in the playoffs, nay, the AFC Championship or even super bowl, and statistically is he is a top 5 guy

or.

2. A mediocre string of seasons where we're close to .500, winning 8 or 9 games a season with a top 12-16ish statline, but ONE year of solid gold performance and a super bowl victory.


Which would you take?

I'm not saying these are the only options, nor that this is what will happen.

I'm simply curious, would the fanbase take 6 seasons of disappointing championship game losses and/or super bowl losses, or would they take 5 seasons of mediocre play, and one super bowl victory?

I'm inclined to believe the fanbase would be split close to 50/50 here. Some just want to know what it is like to root for a team to win the super bowl, some might want to know what it is like to just win, win, win, but never win the big one.
