I've had my wisdom teeth pulled and some of my female parts taken and I did not take pain pills after those surgeries. I'm gathering howeve, after a full ACL replacement and miniscus clean up, I'm going to need pain pills. Vicodeine is what my doctor told me he was going to subscribe.
I'm even looking into medical marijuana as an alternative. I really don't want to take pain pills. Shit makes me nervous. I don't want to get sick cuz that would suck right after knee surgery, and I don't want to fall in love with them either. I have an addictive personality.
The whole idea just sucks....

I have an addictive personality and after my knee surgery I was prescribed oxys. What I found is, only use these pills when you're in dire need of the pain relief. Your mind can occasionally "flare up" the pain insisting that you take more pills, but just self evaluate and be certain that you need that pill.
By keeping it in check that way I always felt that I was in control of the med, not the other way around, so when it came time to stop I had no issues.
Good luck on your surgery.
