I think you're wrong, personally. I don't think we will see significant drops. I think we'll see price parity, to some extent, but not really. The manufacturers simply don't care. They'll continue to roll out new versions of phones, and let the carriers advertise them and do business as usual.

We've yet to see the tablet market develop. IF it develops like the laptop market, than perhaps we'll see market pressure. But if you thing that Motorola, Samsung, and HTC aren't just counting down the days to add motoblur, Touchwiz, and whatever HTC's brand is called to tablets, you're delusional. We're only about to see an increase in junkware and proprietary skins.

But, you consistently miss the big problem. It isn't hardware, it's software upgrades. Even if Motorola, or Samsumg, or whoever puts out a better product, what good does that do me when I know that they have no desire to support my product long term? Why should I invest in their product when they are more concerned about creating new products and their increasing new sales? They aren't in the business of software - google is! They want to sell hardware!
This is almost exactly 180 degrees wrong. IF android hadn't hired Duarte then you'd be spot on... go out and look at Honeycomb... it doesn't NEED a skin or add on ... with the NEW Android OS, hardware has become just like the PC market. I can buy any tablet and install new versions of the OS as I see fit.

Take everything you have seen regarding Android phones and throw it out the window... the landscape has changed.

Let's look at the list of manufacturers that will be releasing tablets soon...

Motorola
Samsung
HTC
HP
Sony
Dell
Toshiba
Viewsonic
Asus
LG
Lenovo
MSI
Acer

and that's all I can think of off the top of my head...
