Sorry peeps. I guess all I'm saying is that not taking a QB in the first round for 30 years doesn't mean that taking a QB in the first round isn't necessarily a great idea.
He just needs to be worth it (and maybe Reid and company think he is...who knows).
The Niners have done it a few times......Alex Smith. Jim Druckenmiller. It doesn't always work out the way you want.
Joe Montana was a 3rd rounder. Steve Young was a trade. Kaep is a second rounder. Look...if the right guy is there in round one...you take him...no question. It just seems like people just really WANT Geno to be worth that pick.
I like the kid. I think he's first round talent. I think he'd be a good QB for Reid to get his hands on. I'm just not sure you want to take him #1 overall.

And what we're saying is that taking yet another retread QB doesn't work either. You do realize that if we take Alex Smith, he will be our 5th...yes, FIFTH SF retread QB, right?
How well has that worked out for us? How well did Rich Gannon, or Matt Cassel work out for us? How many playoff games did they win?
So you don't have to look...the answer is ZERO.
You know how many first round QB's have worked out for us? ZERO. Why? Because we've only attempted that strategy ONCE IN 30 YEARS.
