ROH has a tiny roster yet they seem to a do a couple feuds like that every year. The Steen/Generico feud went almost exactly one year before the blow-off.

Well, the match between WWE's top 2 draws at the time, Cena & Batista, took literally about 2 weeks to build up before Summerslam a few years ago... That was pretty long for them...
Occasionally, you'll get a feud like Punk-Orton earlier this year that references things that happened a long time ago (Orton taking out Punk when he was the WHC like 2 years ago), but yeah, they're not very good at the "building suspense" thing. Seems fairly obvious that they're being run by businessmen rather than wrestling people. They want to get what they can out of Punk while they can, because they're not sure how long it'll last.
Of course, that's pretty much a Catch 22 because rushing Punk's storylines makes it that much more likely that he won't stick in the spotlight. I'm really hoping that they either make this a string of matches or have some sort of a long-term plan for the story, because I won't be buying Night of F'ing Champions to watch one match (that I don't think Punk'll end up looking good in), and I'm sure I'm not alone.
