Okay, now what this is over, someone has to explain it to me.
I was initially quite irritated with myself for cutting a guy that was clearly valued by a team or two. I'm still annoyed that I let him go when he may have had trade value, but now I realize that he was
way overbid.
For instance, I just signed Robert Turner to a 1-year deal for $1. Turner started 16 games for the Rams last year and did a pretty nice job of it. He's a plus pass blocker and a passable run blocker; not at all unlike Saturday, really (in fact, he's a significantly better run blocker).
And yeah, now that he's in Tennessee he'll probably be a backup in 2013, but who cares? Saturday won't even be in the league.
So for 1 year of Turner, a center that is virtually identical in performance to Saturday, I paid $1. Meanwhile Duluth paid $80 for 1 year of Saturday (in fact, only 14 games and a guy that won't be playoff eligible).
Must be a locker-room chemistry thing...
