I'm sure that's helped him on a couple of those 80+ yard carries, but how many times has he only gotten 1, 2 or even negative yards because of that?
Jamaal Charles doesn't rely on huge runs to boost his average and never has. His 2010 season was a perfect indicator of that; the guy was consistently breaking off 6-10 yards a rush. I'd have to check the game logs but I don't think he had any more than a handful of 40+ yard runs that season..
