Locker? Ponder? Dalton? In hindsight, Kaepernick is likely to be a very good one, but you're full of shit if you try to claim you were on board with taking him in the top 5.

I mean hell, look at how loaded the top of that draft was. Miller, Green, Peterson, Jones, Smith and Watt are all insanely good. Newton is clearly the only person that belongs in that class of players and even then, Miller, Green, Smith and Watt are arguably more valuable. And Mayock was hardly alone on not like Newton.

What I'm trying to say is that he really didn't miss by much, did he? He believed Gabbert could be developed to overcome shortcomings that he clearly identified - it didn't happen (and the Jags are at least partially responsible for that).

It wasn't a JaMarcus Russel will be the next Elway style ****up...
