We could pick someone at #1 who is a worthy #1 overall talent. Or we could pick someone the caliber of which we could have gotten any other year drafting in the teens.

It's a difference of philosophy. Some people want us to stay in our lanes and maximize value in the draft. Some of us want to reach for positions of need.

Sometimes, either one is appropriate. Right now, because we need to change over 2/3 of the roster, I'm in favor of maximizing value.
Why is it a waste to draft the best quarterback in the draft when you can and it fills a position of need?

Tackles are needed but severely overrated. Above average QB play drastically improves your OL. Barry Richardson, arguably the worst pass blocking tackle in the NFL the last 3 years didn't give up a sack with an average QB in Orton and you really want to waste the opportunity to get the best QB available in favor of a ****ing LT?
