You don't need to twist yourself in knots to try and squeeze hypocrisy from this.
Like my earlier post stated.. both can walk away smiling at their successes and bank account.
As also said, I think the perception on Smith is higher though. That he is viewed as a sustainably solid starting QB... whereas Kaep was a flash in the pan... a backyard baller who never evolved. Seems the League agrees with me...
