You don't become Goblin King by making moronic decisions like challenging people far more powerful than you to kill you without even attempting to defend yourself. What a supremely stupid moment.
I can understand it, maybe, in the sense that he simply has no idea what Wizards are made of so he's just like "there's no way this guy can be that lethal," but Gandalf literally got done slaughtering like 35 orcs in front of the guy's face.
Also stupid: the movie goes through pains trying to give Radagast more screentime, which I really enjoyed, but in the end he contributes pretty much nothing, defeating the purpose of his inflated screen time.
All in all, I enjoyed the film, but those two things ate at me.
