KU hadn't played Villanova in 5.5 years before last night (and only once in the last 8). And the last time they did was when they beat them easily during their national title run. Not exactly sure there's a meaningful trend to be found there.

One thing that enfuriates me about self is his half court offense. Self seems to struggle with energetic guards who can pressure the guards up top. Because the offense is pretty unimagitative about guards getting the ball to players in the post. It seems like you just need slashers at guard who can really maneuver into the lane.

Depends entirely on the kind of team Self has. If they have a team with a bunch of good ball handlers (see 2008), beating a team that plays pressure defense won't be a problem. This current team doesn't have that right now.

Those types of teams can beat anybody. They just beat KU far less than they beat everyone else.

It's a weakness. Unfortunately, it may continue to be one. Frankamp looks nowhere near ready to play at this level yet and Greene can't play any defense at all.
