That movie made me change the way I look at violence in media. And the strong negative reaction it got from critics fascinated me. Why do people consider it such a violent movie? What is it that disturbs people so much about it? Why is a film with [virtually] zero blood or death onscreen considered more violent than a Rambo flick with 500+ bodycount? Most of the movie is pure psychological suffering, but is still percieved as extremely violent by critics.
I have not seen the German original but I've heard it's pretty much identical.
