Conversation I had with a female friend of mine who is a casual football fan:
D: So the Chiefs finally dumped Cassel.
her: Thank god! He was terrible. Who'd they bring in?
D: Well... I don't mean to brag, but did you watch the 49ers in the Super Bowl?
her: THEY GOT COLIN KAEPERNICK!?!?
D: Erm, no. They got the white guy who backs him up.
her: *deflated* Really? Who the hell is he?
D: Dude's name is Alex Smith. We traded for him.
her: Who? I've never heard of him.
D: He was a big deal back in 2005. He's flopped around, hasn't played well but played okay last year until Kaepernick became Superman.
her: I am so sick of them getting QBs I have never heard of. Get somebody good!
D: You've actually seen Alex Smith play. We were both in Arrowhead together when the Chiefs blew him out.
her: With Matt Cassel.
D: ...oh god. Yes. God.
