I would submit that it's a lot easier for a woman to meet conventional standards of beauty. Basically, be thin.
It's a lot harder for a guy to get a physique like Ryan Reynolds than for a woman to get a body like Natalie Portman.
I'll concede that there is more emphasis on women's looks than on men's.
