You are way out in left field here. The Knicks took the Bulls to 7 one year... then the next year had home court advantage and took a 2-0 lead on the Bulls in the ECF.
During the 2nd three-peat the Pacers pushed the Bulls to the max. You need to go watch those games. They were absolute battles to the death. The 98 Pacers/Bulls series might be one of my favorite playoff series of all time. They made Jordan and Pippen look human.
Everybody looks back on these things as if they were all forgone conclusions for the Bulls. They absolutely were not.
