I work in software support. The company that bought us out a few years ago decided to stop selling our software about a year back. Now, they've decided it's not worth supporting it. Out of the five people in our department, two of us are getting canned once the exporting of the clients' data is done. The other three got trained on new stuff. The deal is for everything to be done by the end of October. In order to get my severance and file for unemployment, I cannot quit before then.
The lease on the building we're in is up the middle of next month, though, so they're moving us home to work until we're officially fired. We're getting everything out of the building by the end of next week, so I'm getting transitioned this weekend in order to be ready.
I'm going to school to become a paralegal, but that won't be done until early 2012. 2011 is going to be a rough year. Will probably end up putting my stuff in storage and moving in with dad for awhile. I'm ready for it though. I know it will be worth it once I'm done with school and start doing something I enjoy.
