You need to listen to Freddie King and Albert King. Once you do, you'll realize where 95% of SRV's playing and singing came from. I'm not talking "inspired by", I'm talking copying notes, riffs, vibrato and even singing, perfectly.
That's not a knock on SRV but those guys invented "his" sound three decades earlier.
Personally, I think LZ's "blues" tracks suck. For that era, Cream and Jeff Beck's Truth and Beck-Ola blow them away, as does Peter Green era Fleetwood Mac.
