Actually that's not really true.
THCA is the precursor to THC and THC occurs from THCA decarboxylation. This process happens naturally, it's just that heat speeds up the process significantly.
Also it's long been suggested that Weed developed THC as a self defense mechanism against animals eating it. If the animal had to cook the plant before getting 'high' then it wouldn't make much of a self defense mechanism.
Likely because of the lower natural THC conversion rates animals would have to eat MUCH more weed before getting equivalently high.
People heat weed because it's more efficient to heat an ounce than it is to eat a pound.
But yes it's probably not terribly like you could get high from eating...but who knows if the THC concentration was high enough...
