he didn't do them any favors in winning it, either
he had at least 2, I'm thinking 3 possessions in overtime to win the game and he was awful
I remember watching the game and seeing Eli just getting hammered by the 49ers defense and the 49ers offense not being able to get a single 1st down and thinking "this game is going to be won by whoever makes the first awful mistake" and sure enough...
The 49ers got to the Super Bowl this year because of Kaepernick and his explosive offense...
they almost got there because of ridiculous defense against the Giants (albeit Smith was pretty damn good when it mattered against the Saints)
either way, I don't want Alex Smith. Just draft a damn QB at #1.
