My only point was that there is a difference between if these people are up in arms because they watched the movie and decided that some of the characters looked to swishy for them on their own, and if they're up in arms because the creators are giving interviews about how proud they were to make a gayed-up kids movie.
Thus my gripe about passive voice. Someone[s] did something. Things didn't just happen.
It's not the 'this was overblown.' It's either 'the audience has overreacted' or 'the creators have overhyped.'
