Ours is an '08 too and pretty cold natured and hard starting in the winter. We've wished we would have waited for the '09 all along.
Ours has had 3 heart attacks and complete engine overhauls. A couple neighbors have had engine failures too. It all leads back to Kawi having a known problem with the air filter letting dirt into the engine. If you call and ask them, they deny it in a way you know they know what you're talking about. The area the filter meets up with the front of the air box is where most have narrowed the problem down too. There is an after market filter system, faster fan kit, and a more efficient water pump that is supposedly doing away with the issues and making the motors more reliable.
