Go to ONE game. Sit in or near the Cauldron and I guarantee you that you will have one reason to smile and be happy about sports in KC. Being of the middle aged 40 plus year soccer fan demo, I can state that without a doubt a sufficient number of young people, especially females, go for the party as much as anything else. It's just a fun and festive place to be. The South Stand is up and coming and you will have a good time there though it's less of a party.
There is one home game left before the playoffs and it will likely sell out. Overcome your bias and preconceived notions of soccer and what sports are in KC and live a little, win a lot!
