We are one position away from being a competitor in this division, that much is true. If Alex Smith could play to the caliber here under Reid that he played under Harbaugh, we'd be divisional champs year in and year out. That's how close this team is, in all actuality. And I don't even think Smith is that great of a QB. But he sure as **** is better than Cassel, and his play over the last two years has been fantastic.

If everybody knew this, KC wouldn't be the frontrunner for the Alex Smith landing site. The only thing that will stop him from landing here, is if he is absolutely deadset on being the starter and not having to "compete" for the job against a first or second round draft pick.

Nothing bothers me more than hearing people talk about Russell Wilson like he's some kind of god. Lets let the kid play a bit more and see if he ends up being as good as he played down the stretch. Andrew Luck did more with a much shittier team, and Russel did it on a very, very talented roster with great coaching and a very soft division.

As for the rest of your quote, nobody will know until it happens, but all signs seem to be pointing at the entirety of this draft class needing time to develop and grow into capable starters. There are a few exceptions to this rule, such as Tyler Wilson, and perhaps Glennon/Nassib, though neither of those two have shown anything since the resolution of their seasons to even write him about.

I think Geno has a very good toolset to work with, but I believe that is going to take some time and patience to develop and cultivate here in Kansas City.

I foresee this playing out like Vince Young in his rookie season. He didn't start immediately, but there were no doubts in that organization that he would eventually start. The only question was "when".

To be honest, Geno has a few question marks, but to counter them, he has some very good positive marks to speak of. What makes this case better for him, is that those positive marks fit very well into a WCO, and very well into an Andy Reid WCO. In my opinion, we are going to need a veteran QB to come in here and start a few games to get the season rolling while we get Geno on track, after that, his job is to be ready in case Geno goes down, and keep this team functioning, unlike QBs of the past for us, save for Damon Huard.
