All we know is that he called 610 and said he wanted to play here, but he wouldn't play just any position to stay here. This could very well just have been a call prompted by his agent where he says all the things you say during contract negotiations and it means nothing.
This team is not "on the cusp of being a pretty good team". They have about 15 positions of need. They lose 14 games this year and were just as shitty last year! How is that a pretty good team if you add a rookie QB?
This idea we are one or two players away is nuts.

OR we can keep playing the Alex Smith/Matt Cassel/Matt Flynn/Ryan Mallett game of grabass. In that case we will need all those new players.
