Here in Colorado we have retention votes for judges. The good judges get 99 percent retention votes and the terrible judges get 85 percent retention votes. No one knows anything about judges so everyone votes for them. My own philosophy is that I vote to kick every one of them out every time, because I also know nothing about them and figure that if it's close enough to make a difference that judge must be completely insane and leg-humping witnesses on the witness stand.
I know that a lot of places have elected judges, too. Ours are appointed. Are there other models?
