Carp is done.
Chris Carpenter (shoulder) has halted his rehab assignment.
Advice: "Going to take a step back," the veteran right-hander told reporters on Tuesday afternoon at Busch Stadium. Carpenter was shelled for four runs on nine hits over 3 1/3 innings this past Saturday at Triple-A Memphis and had a familiar feeling of numbness in his pitching hand. There is no longer a timetable for his return.
