Notre Dame can't just rip up their NBC contract and say "never mind", there would be 4 years worth of huge liquidated damages to pay. We're sure as hell not going to pay that for them.
Notre Dame can't abruptly quit 16 games with less than 2 years notice (presuming none of the 2015 teams have a problem with it), leaving those teams high and dry with no other reasonable option for an OOC game. Every single one of those schools are going to sue for big money. We're sure as hell not going to pay that for them.
I mean, sure if someone wants to open their wallet and start shelling out at least $40-50MM to NBC, and who knows how much to tons of schools, then yeah "anything can happen", but that would be really stupid, and unnecessary if they are legally bound to the Big 12 for 9 years starting in 2016.

The Big 12 would have no problem with Notre Dame bringing their NBC contract with them. Funny how what was once seen as something that hampered the conference is now a strength.
Then again some of us were saying how great it was to collect your own third tier rights since the beginning.
