Every character of focus got their fitting ending. Megan got Don's money and doesn't have to worry about settling for terrible roles and doesn't have to ride the casting couch if she doesn't desire.

Harry is a bigwig in the media / data side of advertising with McCann and still gets to cheat on Jennifer with Hollywood whores.

Ted finally got a pharma client among others ones that ad men dream about and has found another woman too.

Betty is dying but she's going out on her own terms at least.

Roger found a more age appropriate love interest in the former Mrs Calvet (who in turn got with someone who seems to enjoy her presence than the Marxist Dr. Calvet) as well as making sure his progeny is set up monetarily.

Peggy and Stan are together with the former finally moving out of her mentor's umbra and on to her own career path with Joan.

And Don has totally heeded Freddy's advice from 7a: "Do the work." He's given up the trappings that came along with being a partner in his own firm and he's given up the baggage of being Dick Whitman. His whorehouse origins are probably rumored about among the McCann Erickson circles and people don't probably care. He's let go of the guilt of stealing Draper's identity because the vets in Oklahoma didn't attack him for indirecting fragging his CO and being an identify thief -they assaulted him because they pinned him incorrectly as a petty thief. His Kerouac-ian journey to California where he was set straight on the flawed pursuit of Diana and giving the grifter motel maitre'd a leg up and advice on reinventing himself. And everything becomes clear to him when Stephanie demonstrates that she doesn't value Don's obligation to her because of his love for Anna and when a mirror image business man pitches to the hippie commune how he feels about how his family sees him.

And, as we see as audience members, Don's arrival at a point of clarity becomes a revelation to him in the commune when he's meditating and the guru instructs the group of devotees to chant "ommmmmm" which, as a redditor pointed out, was part of the Accutron Watch pitch that a sock-puppeted Freddy Rumsen was pitching on behalf of Don to his own company as Season 7a began. We're lead by Weiner to believe that Don has gone through this journey of self discovery to arrive upon the fact that he is okay and that he is an ad man through and through.

it looks like Sally is going to have to give up whatever aspirations she has to be a mother figure to Bobby and Gene.. And for ladies like Dawn there's still racism to contend with.
