but honestly, it's pretty off putting when athletes try and use God as a reason why they succeed or fail. But hey, I'm not a very religious guy so it's also pretty ignorant for me to try and put myself in their shoes.

In the festering pile of bigotry in this thread, yours was the only post that had any sort of tolerance for his comments.
I agree that I dont want to see these sports figures (or any public figure outside the realm of politics) preaching to me about anything. I try to ignore it when I can, but its very hard. ESPN was almost unwatchable the first half of the NFL season last year with all the PC garbage that took up all the air time where there should have been discussion about the games.
I dont find Wilson a nut or nutty for being a person of faith. If he believes that God was using him, that's his belief. It's no more nutty than Michael Sam and his beliefs.
