I just read this morning that Darth Maul was brought back to life, with a robotic lower half, in
Star Wars: The Clone Wars cartoon series.
At the end of
The Phantom Menace, I just knew that he wasn't dead and expected him to come back at that time. I'm sure glad that Lucas didn't do that in the movies, because it would have been a cheap move, although it might have been cool to see Maul and Vader fight to become the true apprentice to Sidious.
Either way, if Maul is alive in the Clone War series, it opens the door for him to be alive in the next animated series or even the live action series, when it finally happens.
