Yep, way back then or in the present time....... there just isn't/wasn't anyone like Stan the Man. He was humble. Never one to do fiery speeches but believed in leading by example.

Mays, McCovey and some other black players are playing cards before the ALL Star game. White players are not speaking to them or welcoming in any way. Stan the man just walked up, sit down and started playing cards with the black players. Talking to them and cutting up just like they had know each other for years. Seems like a little thing now but back then, it was a big deal.
