they are letting the market set the value for him
theres no compensation involved but by tendering him even at UDFA status, they can still match any offer to him. They want to see if a guy with such a bad injury history but still with the highest PER of WRs last season even has a market.
There would have to be a team out there that offers him a poison pill contract to get him away from the Chargers. I think it could happen but probably not.
hes essentially the type of player we wish Jon Baldwin was. A dude putting up monster efficient stats because hes drawing single coverage beating teams 3rd and 4th best secondary guys, hes a mismatch nightmare because no defenses were respecting him because of his bum leg and he put himself on the gameplan map because of it. I wish Baldwin would do exactly that, draw respect from opposing defenses.
